Safe and Holistic Care for Optimum Health and Wellness

Welcome to the Isthmus Acupuncture Center, LLC (IAC) information site. We provide complementary holistic health care services to assist our clients in achieving their health care goals and improving their quality of life. At IAC we have a team of specialized acupuncturists and massage therapists working together to provide top quality care to achieve results quickly. We facilitate healing using acupuncture, Chinese herbs, therapeutic massage, Maya Abdominal Massage, Reiki, and nutritional support.
We practice a gentle Japanese style of acupuncture based on the teachings of Kiiko Matsumoto and Japanese pulse theory, and prescribe Chinese herbal medicine and nutritional support based on Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) theory. We have a complete herbal pharmacy enabling us to provide customized herbal formulas based on individual need.
We provide individualized treatments addressing a variety of health care conditions and servicing the needs of the community. Our practitioners specialize in pain management, emotional health, weight management, facial rejuvenation, fertility enhancement for men and women, pregnancy care, and transitioning through menopause. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve your health care needs.
Isthmus Acupuncture Center's open house is February 13, 2010. Come celebrate the year of the tiger with us! View invitation and details here.
Introducing IAC's Custom Prevent Flu Formula
IAC is offering a new herbal remedy to prevent or treat respiratory flu and the H1N1 flu (“swine flu”) that is based on a formula developed and used at Beijing TCM Hospital.
Our formula, Prevent Flu, is available as a powder or as capsules.
Prevent Flu can be drunk daily during flu season, when you have been exposed to the flu, or when you are experiencing any early signs of cold/flu such as scratchy, sore throat or headache.
We still have our popular Cold Control formula, as well as Gan Mao Ling teapills that can reduce the duration and symptoms of colds and flu.
Can Good Bacteria Really Fight the Flu?
New evidence suggests that probiotics -- good bacteria that can aid immune function -- can have a preventive effect for cold and flu viruses.
I am interested in learning a little more about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Can you recommend any good resources?
We have found the following books to provide a good basic background to TCM without being too technical:
- Between Heaven and Earth: A Guide to Chinese Medicine by Harriet Beinfield and Efrem Korngold (Emphasizes constitutional and emotional health)
- The Web That Has No Weaver: Understanding Chinese Medicine by Ted J. Kaptchuk (Appropriate for those with a western medicine background)
- Ancient Healing for Modern Women by Xiaolan Zhao (Provides information on general women's health)
- The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis (Deals with fertility challenges)
